This home is proof that, even where space is tight, amazing flexible family spaces can be achieved. The pretty Edwardian cottage is over 100 years old and has been lovingly maintained by its current owners. But they needed Spacemaker’s help to bring the home into the 21st century.
Spacemaker’s works were designed to provide a bright, comfortable, modern living space with easy access to the new alfresco zone. The owners also wanted the convenience of a separate powder room and laundry, which had previously been squeezed into a corner of the bathroom.
These clients didn’t need a huge amount of space since their children have long left home, but they needed the home to work better for them. The single bathroom, which also housed a cramped European –style laundry, and the small, dark kitchen/dining room were impractical, dated and depressing. The changes delivered by Spacemaker have made a massive difference to the enjoyment of their home.
With the addition of grandchildren, the family's needs have changed again. This time round, Spacemaker's brief was to provide more flexible accommodation for their grandchildren’s sleepovers, as well as some ‘working from home’ space.
Our very tired home has been thoroughly modified thanks to Spacemaker. The new kitchen, laundry, powder room and family room “fit” perfectly with the original home. Despite our concerns about “the project”, it was a pleasure to deal with Spacemaker. Their team were professional and courteous - they were people we were happy to have in our home. And they cleaned up every day! We are very satisfied customers!
